Day Trip to Skoura Oasis and Dades Valley – 1 day
Overview
Experience the beautiful Rose Valley and the Dades Gorge
Trip to the Dades Gorge from Ouarzazate – overview
Desert Majesty has composed a trip to witness local Berber life and landscapes. The Berbers are the main inhabitants of this region of Morocco and their life style is unique. To appreciate this different Morocco, we will take you on a one day trip from Ouarzazate to the Dades Gorges.
First of all, you will be able to walk in Skoura Oasis among the fields of date palms, olive and fruit trees. The fortified Kasbah Amredhil here gives an insight into traditional multi-generational living and acts as a small museum.
In the Valley of Roses, part of the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, co-operatives produce beautifully scented creams, lotions and pure rose water made from the Damascene roses. An unexpected part of this day trip to the Dades Valley is visiting local Berber nomads in their caves and partaking of a glass of tea with them.
After lunch in a beautiful guest house with lovely views in the Dades valley, there is time for to explore the gardens, fields, and river.

The day trip to the Skoura Oasis and Kasbah Amredhil – itinerary
Your orning departure will be from the reception of your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate. Just before reaching Skoura you will drive along a track to see many of the Kasbahs idyllically placed amongst the palm trees, but mostly abandoned. A walk in the oasis among the fruit, palm and olive trees gives a very clear insight into the local way of life – an unforgettable experience.
Kasbah Amredhil lies on the very edge of the oasis as an excellent example of multi-generational Berber life. It is now a small museum with interesting kitchen and agricultural equipment on display. The adobe building material is perfectly adapted to the hot summers and cold winters.
On the main road, the route passes through the Valley of Roses with a stop in Kela’a M’gouna to see and sample the locally-produced rose cosmetics, famous and highly valued throughout Morocco. The best month to see the roses in early May before the three-day Rose Festival.
A track leads us away from the Rose Valley, also known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. This road winds past villages and the river, which carries little water, allowing a view of the astounding rock formations and colours. We stop to have a glass of tea with Berber nomads in their caves.
Lunch is in the Dades gorges with a pause for a closer look at the famous monkeys’ fingers rocks across the river. This is followed by a walk along the river before we return through the Dades Valley.
We arrive back in Ouarzazate at the end of the afternoon. Your one day trip to Skoura Oasis and Kasbah Amredhil comes to an end as your driver escorts you to your riad.

5A great company always pending, planning with you the itinerary and taking you to see what you really want to see, without cheating. We were with them for 6 days, traveling through beautiful villages towards the desert where we spent the night in a desert camp. Spectacular in everything, their landscapes and their people. Ismail and his brother made the trip unforgettable. Great calm hotels.
My husband and I discovered a small piece of Morocco, but we learned about the whole country . Thank you Ismail for making it unforgettable
5We spent 10 days in Morocco from Marrakech to tangier through the desert and Fez. At the airport we were welcomed by Ismail, our guide who is now a friend, an incredible person who has been a professional in his work , we connected as if we had known each other for a long time. With him we learned a lot about culture and religion and how to value time.
In short, thank you Ismail for making our experience unforgettable.
